Alfredo Gomez Second at Romaniacs on TE 300i

The 2019 edition of Redbull Romaniacs went right down to the final kilometre, with Husqvarna rider Alfredo Gomez being piped to the post by KTM’s Manuel Lettenbichler.

The Redbull Romaniacs is universally recognised as the hardest hard-enduro race on the planet, but Alfredo and team mates made light work of the prologue stage on their Husqvarna TE 300i, finishing in fourth place.

On the second day of offroad stages, the Spaniard posted the fastest time of the day and took control of the race. A strong result followed on day three and the result was in the balance.

Rain struck on the final day and the climbs became slippery. Racing was brutal and After close to 21 hours of racing the top riders were separated by just minutes with Alfredo clinching second, just two minutes 24 seconds from the win.

After a well earned rest, Alfredo reflected on the gruelling race with pride:

“It’s been an amazing race, I’m so happy to get on the podium. The first day didn’t go so well for me but then on the second day I had a better feeling on the bike and was able to take the win. The last two days also went well and it was great to have such a close fight with Mani and Graham. Obviously I’m disappointed not to have taken the win but it still feels great to come second after such a long and demanding race. Thank you to everyone who helped me over the event – my team and all the fans – I’ll come back even stronger next year.”
